Christian Schittich (born 1956) studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. After several years of practice and journalistic work he joined the DETAIL editing team in 1991, which he headed for 25 years - initially as senior editor and, from 1998 as its editor-in-chief and editorial director. During this time, DETAIL became one of the leading international specialist journals for architects and civil engineers. Christian Schittich is the author and editor of numerous specialist articles and books including Glass Construction Manual, 1999; In Detail: Building Skins, 2002; Building Simply 2004; Housing in Japan – Typologies for Small Spaces, 2016; Landmark Buildings – A Review of Three Decades of Architecture, 2017; China`s New Architecture – Returning to the Context, 2019. Since August 2016, he has been working as freelance publicist, editorial consultant and specialist author.
